My motion graphic tells the dark story of A Clockwork Orange, depicting the concept of brainwash and government control within the novel. It is inspired by collage and stop motion animation, combining photographs and digitally-produced elements. While not directly related to the novel, this style complements the unusual tone of it, as it is seemingly fun and playful at first, with dark themes integrated seamlessly. My objective is to create a feeling of unease within the audience so they are interested in reading the novel and achieve a specific look, emulating the animator Ariel Costa.

The main genres of this novel are dystopian and satire, which my design reflects, making the target audience of my motion graphic fans of this genre. The hypnosis spiral depicts brainwash, which is common in most dystopian fiction. The bright colours used in my design juxtapose this, as dystopian fiction commonly uses muted and depressing tones, showing that this book somewhat subverts this genre. The colours showcase the boldness and almost satirical elements of this unique novel.
